A UNIQUE FORMAT: DRIVING RESULTS

DETEC is not a traditional classroom training course.  Modeled after executive education seminars from top MBA programs, the format of the course combines seminar style discussion, dynamic presentations from experienced leaders, interactive design thinking workshops, and two salon events with tech executives and innovative leaders across government.

The fast-paced DETEC course will arm participants with an actionable plan to drive innovation across their organization. Participants will workshop an existing challenge inside their organization throughout the three day program. Hands-on expert-led workshops help leaders identify the right tech solutions, lead effective implementation and measurement, and manage transformation across teams and stakeholders.

Goal 1: Leading Innovation Organizations

  • Develop a clear understanding of how to develop and incentivize your workforce, change culture, hire the right talent, and utilize resources to accelerate innovation and tech adoption

  • Learn about commercial innovation methodologies, such as Design Thinking, Agile Development, Lean Startup, crowdsourcing, and pitch competitions.

Goal 2: Overcoming Internal and External Barriers

  • Apply agile procurement process for rapid adoption of tech through acquisition waivers, Other Transaction Authorities, FAR Part 12, and other existing authorities

  • Learn how to design and deliver prototypes that launch in 2-3 months

Goal 3: Optimizing Current and Future Technologies

  • Understand the current digital technology landscape and identify technologies that can be implemented TODAY

  • Engage with commercial technology leaders and venture capital firms to understand how to collaborate with the national security innovation base
